FROM THE FOSTER

Ben is the sweetest dog ever and has been a perfect houseguest. Ben never wants to leave my side and thinks he’s still small enough to be a lap dog! He makes a fantastic running buddy but he really doesn’t HAVE to go on runs. He’s pretty calm in the apartment all day alone regardless. He loves to play fetch and do tricks (sit, down, shake).

Ben mirrors the energy of the environment around him. When everything is calm he’s calm. I think he enjoys the peace and quiet of my apartment and I think he’d enjoy a similarly quiet home.

Ben came to us about 3 years ago and he quickly became famous for enduring one of the most horrific injuries ALR has seen. Theory was that he had been dragged behind a car and he was missing the skin on the entire side of his face and much of his neck. After several painstaking surgeries, the vet was finally able to close the wounds. During the weeks of treatment and rehab, his tail never stopped wagging.

He was adopted by a family with two young girls and he adapted well to his new home. Now that they are older, the crazy energy of junior high girls has proven to be a bit overwhelming for Ben and he got caught up in the frenzy and snapped at one of their friends. Because of that, they do not feel comfortable having him in a home where kids are constantly coming and going and they want to find a calmer home where he will be more comfortable. He is well trained and great in the house and despite the injuries, he is a 65 pound stunner.
