Ruby

Adopted Medium Spayed/NeuteredUp-to-date with routine shotshousetrained

UPDATE

Ruby has been with us for over 6 months. She had some fear aggression when we got her and has been at Ranger Dog Training. She’s gotten much better, but she will need a very experienced “pack leader” that will build her confidence and make her more comfortable with strangers. She is not a dog for everyone, but in the right home she would thrive.

Ruby is a beautiful 4-5 year old yellow lab that was turned into the shelter when her family moved. She was terrified in the strange and noisy shelter and would not let anyone near her. Thinking that she would be hard to rehome, they had planned to euthanize her. As a last resort we sent our trainer Ken from Ranger Dog Training. He pegged her as fear aggressive and once she realized he wasn’t going to hurt her she let him leash her up and take her home. She does very well at his house because he is a confident leader and she feels safe. She will do best in a home with a very dog savvy person who is willing to work with her to make her comfortable around new people. She is ok with other dogs but we are looking for a home where she is the only dog (no cats) and a home where there are no children, as she would be fearful of the noise and commotion.
