UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER

Penelope is doing great. She’s happy to be in a home, I think. Wants to hang with us all the time. We’ve left her and Taco (the other foster dog) and she’s totally fine in the house and with other dogs. Her mobility is getting better. She has been going up and down stairs on her own and even went up a whole flight of carpeted stairs this morning all on her own. Her left hind where she had surgery is doing well. She seems to feel good – she’s s chow hound and even made some moves to play with Taco. She’s very sweet and easy.

Poor Penelope…she was hit by a car and suffered a dislocated hip and fractured knee and ankle. She was at the shelter for over a week and although they were giving her pain medication, she was clearly still in pain and had to drag her back end around to move. Through all of this her sweet disposition never changed.

We rescued her 3 weeks ago and with the help of a very talented vet at Russell Ridge Animal Hospital and some generous supporters, her surgery is done and her outlook is great. Now she needs a home. The vet thinks she is about 3 years old and said she has a wonderful temperament that would work in any home. She is fine with all of the dogs at the clinic and would most likely be great with kids. She is long overdue for a cozy place to rest her head and some TLC. If you can help foster or are interested in adopting her, please email us at info@atlantalabrescue.com
